Our aim is to provide a support network for the African community and its affiliates on the university campus and to provide cultural enrichment for the community at large. We serve as an integral part of the university student's life by:

- Providing a means of academic and social interaction within the university community through discussion forums, parties and study breaks.

- Raising consciousness and increasing awareness on the African culture by organizing a yearly cultural show and discussions forums.

- Helping incoming African students and visiting professors to adjust to their new environment.

African Students Association is a non –political, non-religious organization created to foster, promote and support awareness of and appreciation for the African community at The University of Kansas, while providing opportunities for social interaction and constructive cultural exchange.  Membership is open to all students, faculty and staff (both international and domestic) of the University of Kansas who are committed to the stated purpose of this organization.  Individuals must be currently registered with ASA to be considered active members.
