Director

The KU Graduate and Professional Association (GPA) seeks a candidate for its Director position. The responsibilities are varied and diverse. The Director serves as the chair of the Graduate and Professional Affairs standing committee of Student Senate and as a member of its Student Executive Committee. In addition, the Director attends other key leadership meetings and events related to university governance. The Director can plan to spen one to four hours a week in meetings, and must have Wednesday evenings available.

The Director also coordinates the KU Graduate Student Research Competition during the spring semester, as well as coordinating the Graduate Research Summit in Topeka with student leaders from other universities across Kansas. The Director will also plan the Jayhawk Graduate and Professional Welcome in conjunction with the Graduate School's orientation session at the beginning of the fall semester. The Director will be expected to expand GPA programming during her tenure. The Director will spend up to forty hours on these events, concentrated at the beginnings of semesters.

In addition, the Director serves as a liason between graduate students and the university, working closely with the Graduate School and other administrators on issues important to graduate students. She is also the GPA office manager, overseeing the Communications and Financial Coordinators. The Director is expected to keep five to ten office hours a week. Pay is $750 per month and includes in-state tuition for the 2007-2008 academic school year. Must be currently accepted or enrolled in a post-baccalaureate program at KU.

Communication Coordinator

The Graduate and Professional Association (GPA) seeks a candidate for its Communication Coordinator position. THe responsibilites include developing and managing the organization's website, publicity for the organization's events and meetings, and establishing and maintaining communication with the university's graduate and professional student organizations. The Communications Coordinator serves on the Graduate and Professional Affairs standing committee as a member of its Student Executive Committee, and so needs to have Wednesday evenings available.

A successful candidate possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in working with student groups, and knowledge of web based software.  Candidates with experience in Dreamweaver, Adobe Pagemaker, and web construction are strongly encouraged.  The Communications Coordinator is expected to keep five to ten office hours a week.  Pay is $750 per month and includes in-state tuition for the 2007-2008 academic school year.  Must be currently accepted or enrolled in a post-baccalaureate program at KU.

Financial Coordinator

The KU Graduate and Professional Association (GPA) seeks a candidate for its Financial Coordinator position.  The responsibilities include managing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, overseeing the financial status of over 30 student organizations, bookkeeping and spreadsheet duties, budget proposals, and training the treasurers of the university's graduate and professional student organizations.  The Financial Coordinator serves on the Graduate and Professional Affairs standing committee and as a member of its Student Executive Committee, and so needs to have Wednesday evenings available.

A successful candidate possesses experience handling and managing large quantities of training, excellent interpersonal skills, and is conversant with Excel.  Candidates with experience in PeopleSoft preferred.  The Financial Coordinator is expected to keep five to ten office hours a week.  Pay is $750 per month and includes in-state tuition for the 2007-2008 academic school year.  Must be currently accepted or enrolled in a post-baccalaureate program at KU.
