Mission Statement

We, the members of the Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO), in order to better serve our people, community, and fellow students, do hereby set forth the aims and objectives of this organization and join together to organize and establish the Hispanic American Leadership Organization at The University of Kansas.

As a student organization that looks toward the future, HALO has set for itself many goals:

  1. We represent our Hispanic community by participating in university and civic events.
  2. We function as a network system for Hispanic students who attend or will attend The University of Kansas.
  3. We believe in fostering and perpetuating the traditions and customs of our people.
  4. We provide information to Hispanic students regarding financial aid, housing, employment, curriculum, admissions, and other information to aid in our academic success.
  5. We provide an annual Cesar Chavez/HALO leadership scholarship award.
