• All are invited to join us this Sunday Dec. 5, 7:30 at Old Chicago for food and socializing

Kick-Off

• Jay Bowl Thursday Feb.10, 05 6:00
• Asked ASCH rep for $150
• Need to have literature, door prizes, list of names/contact info, disability videos running throughout the night, perhaps a disability awareness presentation
• We need to be dressed uniformly so others can recognize we're from the group
• Goal of approximately 60 people in attendance
• Rough guest list includes: Provost, Chancellor, Department chair of SPED, GTAs who spoke at international conference, Chuck Berg (theatre and film), Research and Training Center, Independence Inc., MRC, KU Professionals w/Disabilities, First Nations, Juan from ISA, BEACH center, professors in social welfare, Jean Peterson, SSD
  • Student groups thru list serves
• Faculty may look for people to be on panels
• Bowling- we can bring food in- estimate of around $150 to rent for one to two hours

 

Advocacy and New Business

• Zach has copies of proposal that SSD made up about busing

• Work on securing permanent meeting room for next semester
• In future: profiles on website, pass out literature to Freshman/new student orientations alongside SSD; invite someone from career services to come speak to the group or adults w/disabilities in the workforce, etc; distribute information out on Wescoe after break; SUA movie showing; more social events i.e.) karaoke
• Jan 23 is Ed Roberts' B-day
• Free advertising in Kansan (2-3 weeks notice in advance)
• SSD keeps a notebook of scholarships for students w/disabilities
