What is Alternative Weekend Break?
Alternative Weekend Break sends groups of KU students to locations in Lawrence or nearby metropolitan areas for a day of service work. Each site works on a specific issue with a community group. The overall goal is to provide KU students with a unique opportunity to volunteer and grow on a personal level. We hope to provide students with a taste of intensive community service and the encouragement to pursue our weeklong programs.
How Much Does It Cost?
Your first Weekend Break of the academic year costs $5. This money is due with your application unless you have made arrangements with us ahead of time. The money goes towards food and gas.
