---Douthart's Past---

Douthart Scholarship Hall (pronounced DOW-thart) was built in 1954 through the donations of Lela Douthart and her sister and brother-in-law, Ava Douthart Chronister and Bert Chronister. 

Douthart has a long history at KU, and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in the fall of 2004.  Over one hundred alumnae returned for the event, including women from the first years of the hall, illustrating the deep love that residents come to feel for the hall and for each other. Douthart has won the distinction of Scholarship Hall of the Year twice in the past four years.
