Bread for the World & Just Food

ECM is joining a coordinated effort among community partners to eliminate hunger in Lawrence. Just Food provides a consistent supply of donated food to a central location for distribution to Lawrence food pantries. ECM will be a Drop Off Site. A box will be near the ECM information table for contributions. A list of preferred foods will be available near the box. ECM will take all food donated once a month to the central location.

Increasing awareness of hunger needs globally. The purpose is to educate students and others on what is needed.

This is done with ECM's connection to the congregations in Lawrence who are Covenant Partners with Bread for the World. This organization educates and advocates through lobby efforts for specific legistlation for increasing self-development and the end of hunger in the United States and the World. The Lawrence Convenant Partners for Bread for the World are Plymouth Congrational (UCC), Trinity Lutheran (ELCA), and First Presbyterian church.

The ECM also hosts Fair Food meeting and events. See the Fair Foods website for more information about this issue at www.lffonline.org and/or contact Shannon Gorres at smgorres@ku.edu.
