Drama
Study Group—Arnold
Weiss (ahweiss@ku.edu & 842-5502)
Friday,
May 7 at 1:30—Did
it again! Six stalwarts of Drama Study Group performed (sans stage, scenery and
costumes, to be sure) the 19 (19—count 'em—19) roles of Act II of Friedrich
Dürrenmatt's The Visit with their accustomed unflappability—if not to
say eclat. Expect no less on Friday, May 7, when Drama Study next meets to
polish off the play's third and final act. Would you believe 30-something
different roles? Many may be brief walk-ons, perhaps; but even the briefest of
them will surely offer opportunities for Orson Wellsean scenery-chewing. (There
are, after all, no minor roles when Drama Study Group gets down to work.) (N.B. Please note change of meeting date
from customary second Friday.) As always, suggestions of plays to be read at
future meetings will be welcome. And again as always, queries and comments may
be addressed to Arnold Weiss via phone or e-mail or in person at Ten O'clock
Scholars gatherings

DONATION OF BOOKS FOR THE LIBRARY
The Endacott Society has received a generous donation of 70 books from
the library of Allyn McGinnis, given by Mrs. Allyn McGinnis and their children,
Cory, Martha, and Michael McGinnis. We
are very grateful to the family for this fine addition to the McGinnis Library
in the Adams Alumni Center. The books
are primarily histories, including a number of volumes about World War II, and
are shelved and labeled as the
McGinnis Collection.
The McGinnis Library was given by Allyn McGinnis, Polly McGinnis Sewell,
and Walter F. McGinnis III in honor of their father Walter F. McGinnis II and
in memory of their mother Wannah A. McGinnis.
The
library committee wishes to thank Bryan Greve for his assistance with this
project.
