The Partners will also be providing information on community and health care resources and sponsoring programs on current medical issues.
Library
Phyllis Sapp (rpsapp@ku.edu, 842-0013)
Tom Eblen has donated a copy of the book, 140 Years of Kansas Newspapers and Newspaper Families, which he authored, to the Endacott Society. The book has been placed in the McGinnis Library. If you wish to borrow this book, please contact Phyllis Sapp or Al Sellen.
Oral Histories
Sandra Wiechert (wiechert@ku.edu, 842-5467)
Eleven new Oral Histories of retired KU faculty have recently been completed. One copy of each is in the Adams Center Library, another will be in the KU Archives in Spencer Research Library, and a third copy should be in the hands of the retired interviewee. The Adams Library copies may be checked out, or else read there during a few quiet moments. The Archives copies must be read while in the Spencer Library. The original tapes of the retirees' interviews may be listened to there as well. All these Oral Histories are truly fascinating as they relate the retirees' childhoods, early educational experiences, teaching careers, family and community life, and forecasts for KU's future.
These Oral Histories have been completed since January: Robert Sanders, Jerry Niebaum, John Alexander, Peter Thompson, Carl Locke, Jr., Thelma Helyar, George Wood-yard, Charles Satisfier, Flora Wyatt, and Shirley Harkess. Ellen Johnson wrote her own autobiography without being interviewed, always an option for this project.
Jewell Willhite, Ev Swartz, James Taylor, Calder Pickett, and Sandra Wiechert are among the Endacott Society members directly involved with the above completions.
