celebration of April birthdays, Pam Madaus, Program Director for The Reach Out
and Read Kansas City Program at the University of Kansas Medical Center, will
speak on "Helping Kids Read to Succeed: What Reach Out & Read Kansas
City is doing about Childhood Literacy." The mission for Reach Out
and Read is to make literacy promotion a standard part of pediatric primary
care so that children grow up with books and enter school ready to read.

at 2:00, coffee at 1:45, in the Paul Adam Lounge. Cinema Studies will show the
third in our Alec Guinness series, the Academy Award winner The Bridge Over
the River Kwai.
In addition to Alec Guinness, the film stars Willim Holden, Jack Hawkins and Sessue
Hayakawa. The film is 162 minutes
long, so have a rest before we start!
As always, everyone is welcome.
