Afternoon Lecture Series

Maxine Patterson (843-7905), Mary Schweppe (schweppe@ku.edu, 842-1147), and Howard O'Connor (843-1884). Stan and Janet Roth (sdroth@ku.edu, jroth@ku.edu, 843-4764), and Bill Hambleton (wwhamble@ku.edu, 843-2508) are in charge of programs.

      June 12—Program at 2:30, sherry at 2:00, in the Summerfield Room. Following the celebration of June birthdays, Grant Goodman will speak on "Japanese Prostitutes in Southeast Asia--1870's to 1920's"

 

Card and Game Theory

Cinema Studies

      June 17—Film at 2:00, coffee at 1:45, in the Paul Adam Lounge. Cinema Studies will show the perfect summer movie:  Gigi.  This is a wonderful musical with Leslie Caron, Maurice Chevalier, Louis Jourdan and Hermione Gingold.   It should make us all feel just a bit better than before we saw the film!  Guests are always welcome.

 

Computer Study

      The group is taking a summer holiday and will not meet in June, July, or August. We will resume programs on Wednesday, September 3. Our computer lab is available for use throughout the summer. Questions about our group should be directed to jniebaum@sunflower.com .

Drama Study Group

      June 6—1:30 in the music room.   Moving to something completely new while holding fast to its loyalty to the true classics, the grop undertakes A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh. Any Philistinian types among the Society's members (few though they assuredly are) inclined to ask, "Winnie-the-Who?" are especially urged to attend; all others are of course equally welcome. Copies of the work will be provided thanks to the ever-laudable imagination and industry of Edwyna Gilbert.

Please note change from the customary second Friday meeting date.
