Ki Aikido is a traditionally-rooted, modern Japanese martial art teaching self defense and mind-body coordination. Because Aikido focuses on using attackers' own power against them, the defenders need not out muscle their opponents. Thus, Aikido is well-suited to people of all sizes and strengths. Confidence, mental focus, and relaxation are major emphases highly useful in daily life.

The club was formed in 1984 by students, faculty and staff of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. Club members have been practicing Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido for over 20 years under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Tsubaki sensei, 5th dan, and his students.

To find out more about what we do, simply come to one of our practices. Dress in clothes you be comfortable exercising in or a martial arts gi (uniform). Long pants are encouraged, but not required.

To become a member, pay the membership dues of $40 per semester in cash or check in the SRFC office to the right of the turnstyles when entering the Recreation Center.
