About ABWA

To acquire the skills needed to grow personally and professionally.

Our Mission…
To bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations, and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support, and national recognition.

Brief History…
After World War II, many American soldiers returned to the United States in order resume their place in the workforce. Unfortunately, many of the women who had held the soldiers' positions during the war then lost their positions once the war was over. Kansas City businessman Hilary A. Bufton, Jr. recognized the valuable work women provided for the economy during the war and decided to start an organization in order to support these women. On September 22, 1949, Mr. Bufton and three Kansas City businesswomen incorporated the American Business Women's Association. The organization has since supported countless business women in their personal and professional lives.

Tenets…
