The University of Kansas Student Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America
UKSCASA was founded as an official student organization of the University of Kansas at the onset of the Fall 2005 semester by student Lauren Ronsse with the support, encouragement, and assistance of Professor Robert C. Coffeen. The Chapter Charter and Chapter Bylaws were approved by students in attendance of the first unofficial meeting at the Topeka Performing Arts Center on October 6, 2005, and a letter of petition for the approval of the KU chapter was submitted to Chair of Regional Chapters Committee on January 12, 2006.
On Tuesday, September 12, 2006, word was sent to the second chair of the KU student chapter of the ASA Andrew Miller that their petition was approved, and KU had an official regional chapter of the Acoustical Society of America. The first official meeting of UKSCASA was held on October 23, 2006, at the Topeka Performing Arts Center. Since then, they have been an active regional chapter.
