KURC Profile

What's the deal?

The University of Kansas Rock Climbing Club serves as a fun opportunity for students to learn and safely practice the art of rock climbing. We seek to cultivate a welcoming atmosphere for climbers of all levels, from absolute beginner to expert. With many years of experience within the club, new members can be assured personal instruction in safety and rock climbing technique.

We at the club consider the indoor rock wall at the Student Recreation Center to be our club space. This excellent facility is an ideal forum for meeting other members, one-on-one safety clinics and practicing technique. Club hours are on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30-10:30pm.

Though climbing inside can be fun, rock climbing is in its purest form outside. A traveling membership guarantees opportunities to climb outside. Each semester we try to take three or four trips to locations around the U.S. Over the years we have seen trips to California, Utah, Nevada, Oklahoma, Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas, just to name a few.
