LAST MEETING ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 28th

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving break!

Yesterday's KU UNICEF meeting was the last official meeting of the semester.
However, we decided that an end-of-the-year group event would be good,
so next
Monday at 5pm we are going to have dinner at India Palace! This
is a purely social event, so come prepared to hang out and revel in the
company of your fellow Unicef-ers!

Also, don't forget about the Fair Trade Market at the ECM, which
is open 1-8pm daily through this Thursday! Its a great place to get fair trade
holiday presents from around the world for your friends or just great items for
yourself!

And lastly, tomorrow in the Kansas Union Ballroom we will be
volunteering with various other organizations at the children's world fair,
where
500 children will descend upon the loveliness that is our school! Come and
help us entertain them--its from 2-5pm!

I wish you all the best of luck with finals and a charming
winter break!
In peace,
Lennea Carty
KU UNICEF Vice President

SHORTEST MEETING OF ALL TIME ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 21st

Here we go-

Total from Dinner- $1,185

The Fair Trade Market will be held at the ECM again this year. UNICEF
will be selling Greeting cards from Friday November 25- December 1.
The sale is from 1-8pm on each of those days. The list of hours is at
the bottom. There are PLENTY of time slots left, so let me know when
you can make it. Also, feel free to double up with someone else
(especially me because I am so bad at math and will probably give
incorrect change 1/2 the time). Even if you can't find time to sit at
the table, please stop by because there is plenty of cool stuff! If
you're interested in fair trade, check out www.oxfam.org for a good
organization!

There will be a Children's Holiday Party in the Union on Wednesday,
November 30 from 2-5pm in the ballroom of the Kansas Union. They are
expecting between 500-1000 kids, so we are volunteering to basically
hang out. If anyone can think of games/activities that might be fun
for the kids dealing with the theme "Holidays Around the World", let
me know. The sign up for this is also at the end of this post.

dinner after a day of fasting. The event starts at 4:30 with food
served at 5:07. We will be advertising for the International Dinner
as well.

her know how many you sold.

EVERYONE IS STAYING TO CLEAN AFTERWARDS!

We will open the doors to the public at 7, but we can go anytime
after 4:30 to set up. If you're making food, be sure to put your
name in all of your dishes. Also, we have tons of great stuff for
the silent auction.

See you there!

MEETING ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 7th

I forgot to take role tonight. Next week we should have a list with
everyone's name on it and you can just check off whether or not you
were there. Here is what went on tonight:

INTERNATIONAL DINNER-
Once again, the dinner will be held on November 17 at 7 pm at the
First Pres. Church (2415 Clinton Pkwy, Lawrence, KS,66047).
We have fliers that Jomana brought tonight that
look great!
We divided up the streets in Lawrence that have the majority of
businesses/restaurants. If your name is listed, just a reminder that
you will need to hit the first street listed as well as the mentioned
block of Mass St. For example, Paola and I have 7th-8th, so we will
go on 6th then hit Mass until 7th.

Here is the list: (if you are not on the list, email the group you'd
like to join to see when they will be going)
6-7th Lennea and David
7-8th Lara and Paola
8-9th Sara and Jomana
9-10th Carlos, Justin and Krystina
10-11th Jon and Akshaya
Iowa David and Sara
15th Paola and Lara
23rd Aubrey and Layla

Discuss with your partner when you are able to hit the streets. We'd
like to have this done by Friday. You can pick up the letters to be
handed out to the business owners in our office. Make sure you get
both an auction letter and a letter for food donations and pass them
out accordingly. Email Carlos and Lennea about your progress.

Brenna came to talk to us about a fundraiser at Watkins Schol Hall.
She would like to have a few bands play, charging $3 and donate the
money to UNICEF. We'll be waiting until the Spring when the weather
cooperates, but it should be a fun money maker!

FAST-A-THON
The Muslim student association is holding a fast-a-thon next Tuesday.
If you'd like to participate you can go to their website. Make an
attempt to fast for the day, then join everyone at Macelie's (1030 New
Hampshire) for a FREE middle eastern feast around 5:07 pm (sunset).

UPDATES ON PAST EVENTS

So far we have collected around $600 with more on the way! Also, we
had a total of 230 people view the _Invisible Children_ film!

Carlos gave us a ton of info tonight, so make sure to read up and
don't forget about the editorial writing competition dealing with
issues in Sudan!

PARTY!!!!!!!
David is having a Latin party at 1301 Kentucky on Friday. Show up any
time after 9. Beverages will be served...

Have a great week. Very productive meeting tonight and welcome to ALL
of our new members!
