October 2005
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.  This annual event is very popular with younger children, as it allows them to make a difference in the lives of children just like themselves.  Traditionally, orange trick-or-treat donation boxes are given to children to take along when they go trick-or-treating on Halloween.  They collect change from each house to donate to UNICEF.  Our event will include the participation of local elementary schools, but we will also take it to the college level.  We will station orange donation boxes in campus departments, as well as ask our friends and residence hall members to donate their change.

November 2005
International Dinner.  Each year we have held this event, it gets more and more successful.  We hold a dinner in a local venue, usually a church with a large cafeteria-type area.  We plan this event in coordination with the venue.  This allows us to involve the community in our fundraising efforts.  We cook the food ourselves, and since the members represent a diverse global population, this often works out well, especially when we recruit our friends to help us!  This year we plan to enlist the help of local restaurants as well.  We have displays of UNICEF’s efforts set up in the room, and donation boxes at each table.  We make a short presentation at the beginning, welcoming the guests and telling them a bit more about ourselves.  We also plan to have an auction to help raise money for UNICEF.

Date: 17th November 2005, Time: 7pm
Location: First Presbyterian Church (2415 Clinton Pkwy, Lawrence, KS,66047)

December 2005
Greeting Card Sale.  Each holiday season, UNICEF distributes a line of  greeting cards with an international and multi-religious flair.  This sale helps UNICEF earn money during the holidays, and provides a unique type of gift, not  available in stores.  KU UNICEF sells these cards each December before finals week, at a table in the KS Union lobby, and in conjunction with the ECM Alternative Market Sale, which deals primarily in fairly traded goods from around the world.
