leadership::getting started The Society is committed to helping each member realize his or her leadership potential. Members will have the opportunity to become officers in their local chapter or to assume leadership positions in regional and national conventions where they will be able to engage in activities that will enhance and expand their leadership skills. During the summer months NSCS offers LeaderShape Sessions to attend. By attending one, you become eligible to win a $600 scholarship. Walter Lippman once said, "The final test of a leader is that he leaves behind him in other men the conviction and the will to carry on." What better way to practice your leadership than to be a mentor for children. Not only can you tutor and become involved in PFCS, but you can also become a sports coach at a community center or be a Big Brother or Sister. For more mentoring options check out the service page. A great way to become an successful leader is to attend a leadership seminar such as one of NSCS' Leadership Summits, The LeaderShape Institute, and The Arsalyn National Conference. For more information about LeaderShape, Araslyn and more, and the benefits of attending check out the NSCS website [http://www.nscs.org]. |
