Attending: Angela Kordahl, Micah Hawkinson, Keri Behre, Heather Bastian, John Wiehl, Katie Egging, Jennie Joiner, Emily Bobo, Nate Williams, Amy Hume, Jessica Isaac and Justin Sevenker.

Next meetings will be March 7 and April 4, 2007.

President’s Report:

  • Regarding the Rent a Grad Student Fundraiser: Let us know if you have any suggestions. Please sign up if you are willing. If more people sign up, then jobs can be distributed more so no one has to work a lot of hours. Buyers can request a particular student.

  • Also, we have lots of books again. If anyone has a place they could store them, please let us know.

Secretary Report:  Last meeting’s minutes are posted.

Treasurer’s Report (Keri):  No activity.

First year liaison (Justin):  Nothing to report.

Academics Anonymous (Micah):

  • Please submit ideas to Micah. A good resources is people who are finishing their dissertations.

Advisory Committee (Alicia):  Nothing to report.

FSE (Angela):  Haven’t met yet.

Graduate Assembly (Keri):  Haven’t met yet.

Grad Committee (John / Ryan):

  • There’s a new description of English 800, but it hasn’t changed much.

GTA/L:  Nothing to report.

Lecturers and Readers:

  • March 29, Jay Harris Miller

  • April 10-ish, Eric Sandquist

Library (Stephanie):  Nothing to report.

MFA (Chloe): Nothing to report.

Professionalization (Alicia / Kristin):  Nothing to report.

Public/Alumni Relations (Jen):

  • Nothing to report – Jen has requested notes from the meeting she missed in November.

SAGE Advice (Sarah):  Nothing to report.

Social Committee (Keri):

  • We’ll meet again soon to plan a Henry’s get-together. We may try another end-of-the-semester gathering, but it needs better attendance than last year.

Summer Institutes (Stephanie):

  • You all received the emails from Marta. Please respond to her with your suggestions. There’s a lot of pressure to make the institute happen this year.

Supplemental funds (Katie):  Nothing to report.

Web master:

  • What suggestions do you have for improving the site? Testimonials? How vital is SAGE to the department? Maybe include our most recent professional skills workshop? Right now, it looks like we have good parties but less substance. Discussion: plan a redesign during the summer.

New Business:

  • Apply for travel funds as soon as possible. It’s a complicated process.
