about how it works
Shifts
Housing costs in Scholarship Halls are lower than traditional residence halls because each resident is responsible for one cooking or cleaning shift that is assigned at the beginning of each semester to work around each resident's academic schedule.
Phone Duties
Phone Duties are scheduled by the Vice President. Sellardites are each assigned to one 1-hour PD at the beginning of each semester. PD runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm. During PD, residents answer the phone and the door and ensure that guests are properly escorted.
Meetings
Meetings, presided over by the President, are held monthly and are when Sellardites are made aware of deadlines, decisions, events, and opportunities pertinent to them. Sellardites are required to attend all meetings, although they are allowed two excused absences, after which they are subject to an Ad Board.
Ad Boards
Ad Boards are the disciplinary actions taken against residents who miss a shift, phone duty, or too many meetings, or fail to do a shift or phone duty properly. If a resident pleads guilty to an Ad Board, she will be notified of a make-up shift that the two Advisory Board members have decided upon. If a resident pleads not guilty to an Ad Board, she will have an opportunity to defend herself in front of the Advisory Board, the President, the SHD, and either the Proctor or Food-Board Manager.
