What Is SOMA?

SOMA stands for Society of Open Minded Atheists and Agnostics and is the only student group at KU that is devoted to advancing a nonreligious worldview and to challenging religious dogma and the groups that advocate it. (There are over 40 Christian groups on KU's campus in an average year, to contrast.) We hold social events, we sponsor events to inform the public about secular issues, and we have regular meetings every other week. If you like us and you're interested in getting involved, let one of the officers know and we will be more than happy to help you find a way to volunteer that's right for you.

SOMA Soul Auction

Donate funds to the Douglas County Aids Project!

Join the Society of Open-Minded Atheists and Agnostics of KU for a night of fun as we donate to a good cause! The "Soul Auction" is a fundraiser for the Douglas County Aids Project with a twist- SOMA members will auction off their "souls" for community service, dates, chores, and other assorted tasks such as tutoring a particular subject, attending a church service, etc. At least half of the money generated will go to D-CAP, with the rest going to the SOMA funds. So come bid on your friends, or just place a donation in the donation jar! It will be a fun and creative way to raise money for a good cause! This event is not for atheists and agnostics only! It is a fundraiser, so everyone is welcome! Invite your friends!

Event information on this year's Soul Auction can be found on the Facebook event page.
