Dr. Val Smith
Studying how nutrients affect various disease agents, including HIV and
cancer
Hopes to apply this knowledge to create a better IV solution for hospitals
By finding out how different pathogens/disease react to certain nutrients,
he hopes to find various solutions that when given intravenously create the
best nutrition for the patient, but the worst for the pathogens
Dr. Smith is looking to add undergraduate students as research assistants
in his laboratory, and will be using this as an opportunity to “scout” for
them
