Antiques Group

Meets the fourth Thursday of the month September through May with alternate dates for November, December, March and May. Each member serves on one monthly committee each year as hostess, committee chair/member, presenter or trip organizer. The committee contacts each member as a reminder of the place and program and to determine attendance. Annual dues are $5.00.  
 

     
 

Book Discussion (Daytime)

Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the Gallery Room of the Lawrence Public Library. Books are "classic" but are chosen by the group and are widely varied. Members provide biographic background and read the books prior to the meeting time. Lively discussion ensue!.

Meets on the third Thursday of each month to discuss a book that has been chosen by all the members. Meets in a member's home each month at 7:30 p.m.  
 

Book Exchange

Sharon Brown (842-2079) No regular meetings. Each member purchases a recent bestseller (hardcover, please). An exchange system will be established.

Meets the first Friday of the month October through May (except January and February) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in a member's home. Includes spouses. Each member serves on a monthly committee, preparing appetizers with the host responsible for beverages. Lots of good food and conversation.

Meets the last Wednesday of the month, except December and May, at Perkins on 23'd Street. Drop in any time between 9:00-11:30 a.m. and no need to dress up or bring anything. Come enjoy breakfast and informal conversation.  
 

Dance Fans

Mary Ross (760-2816) Meets to attend evening programs by University Dance Company at Lied, by 940 Dance Company at Lawrence Arts Center, and occasionally to observe daytime master classes, rehearsals, or videos of professional performances.  
 

Gourmet Dinner

Jane Kuwana (841-3721) Cooperatively prepare monthly dinners for four to five couples in a member's home. Themes are often ethnic.  
 

Great Gardening in NE Kansas

Meets the second Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. during the gardening season for garden tours and out-of-town field trips. In the winter months the group meets at a later hour in a member's home. Members plan and implement the programs.  
 

Informal Supper Group

Meets the second Sunday of the month at 5:30 p.m. during October through June. No meetings in January and May. Hostesses provide entree and each participant brings a side dish. Most meetings are at the Smith Center unless hostesses' homes are available.Each member pays a small fee to help defray room costs and liquid refreshments.  
 

Jabberwalkers

Meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Lied Center parking lot at 7:15 a.m. for campus walking. During cool, inclement weather, the group meets at Allen Field House at 7:15 a.m.

Moms and Tots

Faye Hale (749-1728) Meets the third Friday of the month in a member's home. Designed for moms and their children who are 5 and younger.  
 

Needlework and Chat

Betty Mitscher (842-9334) Meets the third Thursday of the month ina member's home from 1:30-3:30 pm. all levels and all types of needlework welcome. Join us for a couple of hours of fun and converstation.  
 

New Members & Friends

New members will be welcomed at a luncheon September 11 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Chancellor's campus home. Designed for those new to UWC or rejoining after many years, as well as members who wish to mentor newcomers or meet new people. Activities focus on special places in the community and on campus. Planning meeting will be September 18 at Susan Ralston's. The group meets the second Friday of most months.

 
 

Spanish Plays

Meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in a member's home. Reads mostly contemporary plays and has an annual potluck meal with spouses.  
 

TGIF

Nancy Hale-Martinko (843- 4343) Meets four Fridays during the year (Sept. 11, Nov. 13, Feb 12, and March 26) from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Malott Room for friendship, hors d'oeuvres and libations. Hostesses each month coordinate decor, food, drinks, and clean up. Can include a guest or spouse. Cost: $5.00 per person each TGIF to cover Union and drinks.
