Programs Fall 2009 - Spring 2010

The UWC Stimulus Program:

All programs and luncheons are held in the Malott Room, Kansas Union. (Socializing begins at 11 a.m. and programs start at 11:30 a.m.)

Fall 2009

   

September 3

Welcome Coffee & Sign-up Day - Members & prospective members have an opportunity to sign-up for the many UWC Interest Groups. (Review the 2008-2009 UWC Interest Groups.)

 

October 1

"Good Friends, Good Family, Good Health", Dr. David Johnson, Assistant Professor, Psychology & Gerontology, a presentation focusing on individuals who are caregivers for people with Alzheimer's disease, the potential negative impact on a caregiver's personal health, and how to prevent being overwhelmed by this experience.

Also, meet Shade Little, Honorary President of UWC and Spouse of the KU's Chancellor, Bernadette Gray-Little

 

November 5

"Time of Change ", Tom Eblen, University of Daily Kansan, General Manager and Advisor; retired Kansas City Star editor explores the changing world of the newspaper business as newspapers close due to the economy and changes in consumer focus.  

December 3

"Reflections on my First Semester at KU", Bernadette Gray-Little, Chancellor, and a musical performance to celebrate the holiday season.

Spring 2010

February 4

"Thorns and Roses", Dr. Kathryn Nemeth Tuttle, Associate Vice Provost for Student Success, an introduction to the many extraordinary women who have been deans and faculty in the history of KU.

 

March 3

"Estate Planning", Peggy Johnson, CFA, Senior Adviser, Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. -- an understanding of how a plan puts you in control.

 

April 1

The Annual Scholarship Luncheon to celebrate our 95th year of scholarship awards; and, Theresa Gordzica, Director of Administration, and Diane Goddard, Associate Provost for Administration, discussing their career paths to major executive positions at KU and provide advice to our scholarship recipients on career advancement.
